The web has opened the portals to a different world.
It is international; it is available to all segments of
society, with no barriers in terms of race, creed, color,
or social and educational status. It is accessible to
those with visual or other physical impairment or
disability. The web has opened opportunities for
the physically challenged.

It’s a whole new world with unlimited access to ideas
and subjects for the curious, the researcher, the academic,
the scholar, the entrepreneur, the writer, the techie
and almost anyone who learns how to surf the web.

The internet is open to all segments of society and
to people from all walks of life. The web transcends
social, age and education barriers. Access is not
limited to the technologically savvy or inclined.
It is no longer as intimidating as it was when the
information superhighway first opened in
the 20th century.

People are less apt to admit to their computer illiteracy,
rather, more members of our society are learning how
to navigate the cyberspace.

It has inspired innovation among enterprising individuals.
Never before has there been opportunity for aspiring
writers to practice their craft and hone their writing
skills and talent.

E-commerce is growing exponentially. Looking for a
product or service? Check on-line. The web offers
endless resources and information on any topic,
even unpleasant ones. The possibilities are endless.

The web has become a medium of communication
as never before. Any place in the world is closer
than one can imagine- it’s just a click of a mouse
away. Truly, the web is a global.

Communities are sprouting all over the web. Like-minded
people share and exchange ideas.Friendships blossom,
love affairs are ignited, the lonely and the timid forget
their inhibitions. Activities are not restricted by time nor
space. It is a very real world, albeit sans that human touch,
but there is a personal feeling to it.

The web empowers the reader. Trust that what you write
will be read by a well-informed group of people
who spend more and more time surfing the web in
hungry for knowledge, information or entertainment.

These netizens are always in search of the latest news,
and innovative ideas on a wide range of interests.
They want information and they want it quickly.

Read what the multitude of e-zines and newsletters
have to offer. This gives you an idea of what interests
people. What are the latest trends? Pay attention to
issues that tend to pop out here and there, again and
again. Subscribe to pertinent groups or forums that
can be helpful in your quest. Stay abreast with the
latest news, be interested in anything and in everything.

Having a website is no longer for the technologically
privileged few. There are millions of websites- everyone
wants a website. It‘s getting easier to get a website running.
Then there is blogging. Welcome to Wikipedia.

On the downside, the web created a new stage for crime
of all kinds, and new crimes, at that! It is a virulent
tool for predators and pranksters of a different kind.

Just as parents try to street-proof their children,
there is a need to monitor the activities of their
children on the net.

Danger lurks in dark streets and alleys, same danger
is a threat from an obviously innocent looking tool
as the computer and the monitor and the internet.
Beware of the power of the internet.Surfing the
web also tends to be addictive!

Who knows what’s next.
